Please note as of Tuesday, August 5, 2025, there will be significant changes to the look and functionality of EBSCO databases, including the nursing and allied health database CINAHL, and SPORTDiscus.
Other affected databases include:
- AgeLine
- Child Development & Adolescent Studies
- Education Source
- Gender Studies Database
- GreenFILE
- LGBTQ+ Source
- And additional EBSCO databases
To better prepare yourself for these changes and get to know the new features and user interface, please review the following:
What does this mean for you?:
- Most EBSCO databases will be fully migrating on August 5, 2025 with no further access to the old interface.
- However, CINAHL and SportDISCUS will not migrate till December 31, 2025. Users will still have access to CINAHL and SPORTDiscus on both old (classic) and new interfaces until then, which allows more time to prepare for and adjust to the changes on CINAHL.
What won’t change:
- If you have a personal MyEBSCO Account, your login credentials will remain the same in the new interface.
- Your bookmarked links to EBSCO databases will still work.
- You will still have access to some items saved in your EBSCO account’s My Folder. The following items will migrate automatically from the classic to new interface: Articles, Images, Videos, eBooks, and Saved Searches
- Note: Saved Searches will be located under the Saved section > Searches in the new dashboard. Users simply log into their account under the new dashboard using their classic MyEBSCO Account credentials to access their content.
Recommended user actions:
- For users of most EBSCO databases - manually migrate or create backups for some saved items (by August 5th)
- For users of only CINAHL and SPORTDiscus databases - manually migrate or create backups for some saved items (by December 31st)
The following features will be impacted – here’s how to prepare:
1) Manually migrate or create backups for some saved items that won’t automatically migrate
A small percentage of users may have personalisation in their EBSCO accounts – the following saved items in an account will not be migrated:
- Custom Folders & Shared Folders
- Persistent Link to Searches
- Search Alerts & Publication Alerts
- Companies
- Webpages
- Notes
- Pages
- Other content sources
Prior to migration, check if you have the following items saved in your account:
Custom Folders/Shared Folders:
- These items can be moved to My Folder – refer to Move Saved Searches from Custom Folders.
- May also be printed, emailed, or exported to your own device – refer to Save and Export Items from your Custom Folders.
- If you do not move your Custom/Shared Folder items to Saved Searches in the classic interface before the migration, please follow these steps on accessing data from the classic interface to manually recreate these folders in the new interface via Projects (option available till Dec 31, 2025).
- Search Alerts/Publication Alerts:
- Users should take note of the journals or search terms used (e.g. by copying and pasting into a document, or creating screenshots from the classic interface)
- Then manually recreate and save these in the new user interface
Afterwards, you can check out the preview of the new EBSCO database interface to verify if the contents you moved from Custom Folders into Saved Searches appear under in the new user Dashboard, under Saved > Searches tab.
2) Get to know the new Dashboard:
The new interface has a dashboard that replaces My Folder and My Custom Folders in the classic EBSCO databases. The new dashboard contains: Projects, Saved Items, Searches and viewed items.
To familiarise yourself with the new features, check out the New User Dashboard guide.
